If you have an integral garage with direct access to the house, a wall mounted push-button is more or less essential. It's worth checking that a good quality push-button is included as standard. Some manufacturers only supply a wall push-buttons a chargeable extra.

External emergency release
If your garage has no alternative pedestrian access, an emergency door-release device will be required to allow manual operation in the case of power failure.

Some operators include a cable operated release system which enables manual operation by means of the door's original locking handle. Most garage door operators, however, require an additional lock to be fitted in the door to enable it to be opened manually from outside.
